"Behold, I am doing a new thing"

(Isaiah 43:19)

For years, Park Avenue Baptist Church has been praying that God would revitalize us. Too many churches have withered away, their buildings sold off and transformed into apartments and even nightclubs and bars.

We knew that the LORD had something better for the church that He planted here in this community 131 years ago, so we began to hold special prayer meetings, vision retreats, and all sorts of special committees and programs, diligently seeking what His will might be.

For years, it seemed nothing would change, but all the while, He was preparing us for something big. We were not expecting the answer, because our God always does more than we can think or imagine!

Earlier this year, we learned that a congregation of like-minded believers across town were going to lose their building in the near future, and they needed a place to call home. We have a large property, and we need more worshippers to fill it! We began to talk with the leaders of this church, as well as our friends in the Nashville Baptist Association, about the possibility of a church merger. We quickly came to believe that this was God's answer to our prayers.

On August 4th, our members met for a vote, and ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the ballots cast were in favor.

Therefore, we are thrilled to announce that Park Avenue Baptist Church is formally merging with the Belmont Heights campus of Rolling Hills Community Church. This new church will be moving to its permanent home right here on Park Avenue after some much-needed renovations are completed, and the new church will be called

Rolling Hills Community Church Nashville

Please come visit us at Troutt Theater at Belmont University during our main facility's renovations, or right here at 4300 Park Avenue once the renovations are complete. Worship service at the Troutt Theater location begins at 10:30 am.

The Web site for Rolling Hills Community Church Belmont Heights (soon to be RHCC Nashville) is:

This is a new beginning, not an end. Park Avenue Baptist Church is not dead. We are grafted into a new family, and we are twice as strong!

Interestingly, Park Avenue Baptist Church (originally Howell Memorial Baptist Church) and Rolling Hills Community Church were both church plants of First Baptist Church Nashville, more than a century apart. In reality, both congregations grew out of one church, and now we are one again. Does that seem like the hand of God to you?

One final note:

The enemy of our souls likes to see Christians divided, fighting, accusing each other, blaming each other, and wasting away into nothing because of sinful pride. He HATES to see believers coming together and growing stronger.

The devil hates multi-site churches, because they are hard to kill!

We believe that this merger is God's plan for Park Avenue. Those of us who stayed and prayed are sure of it, and we encourage those who may have left Park Avenue in the past to return in a few months to see what incredible things God can do when we are willing to let Him lead - and willing to let Him take us out of our comfort zone!

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord."

Calling Rebel Hearts to a Forgiving God

- PABC Purpose Statement

Please visit to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ effectively and lead people to a Bible-teaching church in their area.

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 Nehemiah 10:31 (NAS)
As for the peoples of the land who bring wares or any grain on the sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the sabbath or a holy day; and we will forego I the crops the seventh year and the exaction of every debt.
